THE THOKCHOM IBOTOMBI INSTITUTE OF TEACHER EDUCATION AND TRAINING, BISHNUPUR was established on 31st December, 1997 and registered in the same the year under the Manipur Societies registration act, 1989 (Act No. 1 of 1990). Its registration number is 40 of 1997. The college is situated at Bishnupur Ward No. 7 about one-half Km from the heart of Bishnupur Bazar. The college land pucca building was donated by Smt. Thokchom Ongbi Dashumati Devi in the name of her husband Late Shri Thokchom Ibotombi Singh. The college is called The Thokchom Ibotombi Institute of Teacher Education and Training (TIITET), Bishnupur as a mark of gratitude to him. Late Shri Thokchom Ibotombi Singh was born on 12th February, 1912 at Khoijuman Maning Leikai, Bishnupur District and passed away on 5th June, 1990. The college has acquired land for setting up the teacher educational institution and spacious campus with playground fro games and sports and has also adequate land of hostel facilities for boys and girls. The college is concerned with 13 High and Higher Secondary Schools recognized by the Board of Secondary Education Manipur (BOSEM) for Practice Teaching and Demonstration. The college is run and managed by the Governing Body on "No profit and No loss" basis without any financial assistance from funding agency or the Government of Manipur. The college is a co-educational institution.
The college library is a dynamic institution providing education for intellectual advancement to the students as well as faculty. It provides necessary facilities for mastering the subject matter, techniques, skills, habits of thoughts and methods of work in their chosen files and also provides all the required opportunities for attending complex educational objectives.
The college has a well stocked library contained Reference books, Encyclopedia books, Text books, Magazine, Journal, Periodical magazine, Newspapers etc.
